Francesca and David’s wedding at The Lodge on Harrison Lake in Harrison Hot Springs, BC, was a celebration of culture, community, and the people who brought them together. Their multicultural wedding blended their Singaporean and Mexican backgrounds through meaningful traditions, food, and thoughtful details woven throughout the day.

Their love story began in an Italian class at UBC, where they met in a way that felt almost familiar. Years earlier, Francesca’s parents had also met while learning Italian.

From the beginning, their relationship brought together two people from different parts of the world, Francesca from Singapore and David from Mexico. After building a life together in Vancouver, David proposed on Grouse Mountain, surrounded by the landscape they had come to love.

When planning their wedding, they returned to two values that mattered most to them: community and culture.

Inspired by No olvides tus raíces (“don’t forget your roots”) and 追遠 (zhuī yuǎn), which reflects the importance of honouring where you come from, their wedding became a way to celebrate the traditions, stories, and people that shaped them.

Overlooking the mountains and water, The Lodge on Harrison Lake was the perfect setting for Francesca and David’s Harrison Hot Springs wedding. Their multicultural wedding brought together their Singaporean and Mexican cultures through meaningful traditions, thoughtful details, and personal touches throughout the day.

They incorporated elements from both of their backgrounds, from traditional door games in the morning to Francesca wearing a kebaya to honour her Peranakan roots before changing into her wedding dress.

Rather than having a traditional bridal party, they invited their closest friends to be part of their wedding crew. David’s friends wore floral brooches, while Francesca’s friends received batik scarves as a meaningful connection to her culture.

The reception was filled with colourful details, including papel picado, vibrant florals, Singaporean treats, personalized letters tucked inside koi-illustrated envelopes, and a menu that brought together Mexican cuisine and Singaporean Kueh.
